Frequently asked questions

How do Japanese shoe sizes work?

A Japanese shoe size is the length of the foot in centimeters (the JIS S 5037 / Mondopoint system). A shoe marked 25 is made for a 25 cm foot. To find your Japanese size, measure your longer foot from heel to longest toe in centimeters — that number is your JP size.

Are the US, UK and EU sizes exact?

No. The centimeter foot length is exact, but US, UK and EU shoe sizes are approximate and differ between brands and lasts. Use them as a starting point and check each brand’s own guide.

How does the Japanese ring size 号 work?

Japanese ring size 号 (gō) is fixed to the ring’s inner diameter: 号1 is 13.0 mm across and each step adds 1/3 mm, so it maps exactly to an inner circumference in mm. The equivalent US size is approximate because the two scales do not line up on whole numbers.
