What is Mendako Typing?
A 60-second typing game you play while watching mendako on a soft, pale-blue seabed. Each time you press the right key, the mendako in front gives a little squish and springs back. Finish a word, and a new mendako floats down from above like a parachute and settles on the seabed. By the end of the 60 seconds, the seabed is full of the mendako you called.
How to play
- Press “Start”. After 3, 2, 1, a word appears. Type its letters.
- Mistakes never cost points. The mendako just goes flat for a moment and blinks.
- Keep typing correctly and the sea begins to glow. The seabed gets brighter and you earn more points.
- Every word you finish lets you meet a mendako friend. Friends you meet stay in the collection, and the more often you meet them, the more of their movements you can watch.
- Choose “Just watch” to simply watch the mendako, with no score. Press keys to make them squish, and click a mendako to make it hop.
About real mendako
The mendako, or flapjack octopus, is a kind of octopus that lives in the deep sea, about 200 to 1,000 meters down. What look like ears are fins, and it flaps them to swim. Unlike ordinary octopuses, it does not squirt ink. Its body is very soft, and it is known as a creature that is hard to keep in an aquarium for long. The colors and patterns of the friends in this game are made up for fun.
