What is Forest Run Typing?

A 60-second 3D typing game where you speed through a forest the more correct keys you type. Time moves from day to dusk to night to dawn, and after 60 seconds you always reach the goal at dawn (everyone finishes; only the score changes). Along the path, all kinds of creatures zoom past: animals like rabbits, foxes and owls, and also something wearing a bear costume, walking mushrooms, trees with eyes, a frog carrying a lantern and a mysterious ball of fluff. There is no failing and no time-up scare. A wrong key never takes points away; you just slow down a little. Nothing to install, no ads, free, and it runs right in your browser.

How to play

1. Press the “Start” button (or the space bar) to begin the 60 seconds.
2. Look at the word in the middle and type its letters. The letters you have typed turn gold.
3. Each correct key plays a footstep and speeds you up. You earn experience, and your level goes up.
4. As your level rises, the forest gets stranger. At Lv2 more wolves and mushrooms appear, at Lv3 the costumes, at Lv4 the glowing forest and mysterious creatures, and from Lv5 everything at once.
5. Type 10 correct keys in a row to enter “Forest power”: bands of light run between the trees and your score grows twice as fast. 20 in a row makes it ×2.5 and 30 makes it ×3, and the effects get a little livelier. A mistake ends it, but you never lose points.
6. Reach the goal at dawn after 60 seconds! Your score, your title and the creatures you met today are shown.

Short words → longer words → two-word pairs

You start with short words like “cat” and “sun”. As your level rises, the words get longer, and later two words come together, like “blue moon” or “white bird”, with a space between them. You don’t need to choose a level: the practice keeps up with you as you improve. The same word never comes up twice in one game.

Score and titles

Your score grows by “1 key × level”, and during Forest power a multiplier (×2 → ×2.5 → ×3) is added. The longer you go without a mistake, the faster your score grows. There is no top level. Depending on your score, you earn a title: Forest apprentice → Forest runner → Wind runner → Friend of the forest → Legend of the forest. Your personal best is saved only on this device.

For parents and teachers

• Free, no sign-up, no ads. There is nowhere to enter a name or other personal information. Your best score and sound setting are saved only in your browser and are never sent to a server.
• There are no point deductions, no time-up scenes and nothing scary when you make a mistake. Children who are just starting to type can practice while building up the feeling of “I did it.”
• On the on-screen keyboard, the next key lights up, and each finger has its own color. The bumps on F and J are there too. Only the letters a to z and the space bar are used. On a tablet, tap the keys on the screen to play. From “⚙ Settings” on the title screen, you can choose lowercase or UPPERCASE letters and show or hide the on-screen keyboard.
• Good for starting together in class. Show it on a projector and start at the same time with the space bar (or Start). Each game always ends after 60 seconds, and nothing pushes you to keep playing. Sound effects can be turned off at any time.
• It needs 3D display (WebGL). On devices without it, a friendly message and a link to other typing games are shown. If motion bothers you, turn on your system’s “reduce motion” setting: the camera shake is reduced and you run at a steady speed.
